Result from the Norwegian Championship in indoor rowing.
2012-02-13
Time goes fast when you’re having fun they say.
3rd February the Norwegian Championship in indoor rowing was held, in Sarpsborg.
An indoor competition on a rowing machine is performed like this:
10 machines are standing next to each other where they all are connected to the same system, which shows on a big screen 10 boats in a row that moves equal to every rower’s speed. A fun way for the audience to follow the competition and an easy way for us rowers to see how we’re doing in the race.
2000 metres race is going in a fast pace and as the only Swedish competitor I had to show who was the biggest, best and most beautiful. Well, at least the fastest.
And then it was my turn to pull as hard as I could in the rowing machine. Time goes fast when you’re having fun, but it can hurt as well. Lactic acid producing, muscles screaming after oxygen and the brain wondering what’s happening. But it’s all worth the pain, because when the finish line is passed, it’s already forgotten.
Saturday evening was very nice as well. With a first place and personal best with me home to Sweden, the couch was better then ever.
Simple mathematic. Training pays off. Sunday morning I was once again back in the gym.
A time full of inspiration!
2012-01-24
January is a month of new life and habits. The gym is filled with people who bring inspiration, determination and a desire for a healthier life. Now there are sparring buddies everywhere. For me it does not matter if there is a new found gym fanatic or my permanent camp companion and two-time Olympic gold medallist Tufte who sits on the machine next to me. They both have a wonderful inspiration that is contagious!
This month is also an important time for decision, preparation and testing. We measure my strength, endurance, oxygen consumption and lactic acid threshold. Tomas, the sports director of SOK will come to verify that everything is under control for the upcoming Summer Olympics in London. There are only 185 days left!
Christmas food and workouts
2011-12-23
Christmas is now knocking on the door, it’s happily welcomed. People are stressed, running in and out of the stores to find the best gifts and food. I feel blessed, all I have to do is pack my bag with training clothes from SWEDEMOUNT, get in my car and drive south to my Christmas loving family that has food, a Christmas tree and a house filled with joy. The only Christmas stress that I have is when I’m looking for a way out from the house for the workouts. Well, I guess I’ll have to buy the morning-paper and the evening edition.
Merry Christmas!
Don’t forget; I you don’t eat you don’t have the energy for workouts. Christmas food shall be eaten for the strength.
Training camp in south Africa
2011-11-14

Last week I participated in the Olympic Camp in Stockholm. A meeting where all the Olympians of the Swedish summer team got a chance to meet and know each other. We spent great time together and started to build the team spirit for the Olympic Games in London 2012.
After the Olympic Camp it went off to South Africa for a training camp together with the reigning Norwegian gold medalist Olaf Tufte. For three weeks we will work out, recharge and get faster together under the African sun. We will stay on a high altitude in Belfast living on the farm indaBundu with a great lake at our disposal. In a barn on the farm we are building our own gym!
